Weekly Photo Challenge: Free Spirit

This picture was taken on June 30, 2012 when the thermometer reached 106°F, setting a new all-time high temperature record in Atlanta. There are a lot of unorthodox elements about this picture. First, the gear used. I attached an Helios 58/2 lens with an M42 mount to a Pentax MX camera using the Pentax Mount Adapter K. The film used was the Kodak Ektar 100 that I often use for a retro look.

Second, the picture was overexposed, for two reasons:
a) To emphasize the unique qualities of the Helios lens. Notice the contrast between the bright red umbrellas and the trees in the background.
b) To recreate the blinding sensation of strong sunlight bouncing off the concrete surfaces.

Red Umbrellas

Red umbrellas. Pentax MX, Helios 58/2, Pentax Mount Adapter K, Kodak Ektar 100. Unedited.
